Crossbow reports that an expedition from the Chinese Academy of Science has deployed motes in Antarctica
Four motes collect weather parameters (air/snow temperature, humidity, sunlight, air pressure). The four motes are connected to two base stations, one that acts as a data logger, the other that forwards the collected data to a backend host via satellite. This system is deployed at Dome-A, apparently a much colder place than Zackenberg (-82C low, and -55C average). The lifetime goal is set to 1 year.
We are trying to get more information about packaging and batteries, as it could be relevant for our project.
